Tremor:
–noun
1. involuntary shaking of the body or limbs, as from disease, fear, weakness, or excitement; a fit of trembling.

2. any tremulous or vibratory movement; vibration: tremors following an earthquake.
3. a trembling or quivering effect, as of light.
4. a quavering sound, as of the voice.

The world is filled with things that have no scientific explanation…magic and other flights of fancy.  Quake challenges you to put your best pen forward and send us the most fantastic tale your imagination can muster.  From leprechauns to the darkest Black Magic, we want you to give us your best shot!  All you have to do is shake things up and give readers the perfect escape from reality.

We're all about shakin' things up, so here is your chance to show readers what you've got.

Quake would like to publish your "Tremor."  You have until October 1, 2008 to submit your story of 3000-6000 words.  The winner will be notified by October 5, 2008 and have 15 days to edit/revise the story.  Quake will publish your story in its e-book division on October 31, 2008. Simple!

Send your submissions as a Word (doc) attachment to contest@quakeme.com. Your cover letter should be in the body of an e-mail.

Our only real request is that magic and other flights of fancy be the catalyst for your story! You pick the genre. Stories must adhere to the following guidelines.

Standard Manuscript format:

ü       File saved in Word format (.doc) or (.rtf)
ü       8 ½ x 11 page
ü       Times New Roman 12pt font/black
ü       1-inch margin on all sides/ 1.5 line spacing
ü       Align text left, do not justify (aligning text both left and right)
ü       Header containing title, author name, and page number
ü       Capital letters at the beginning of sentences and proper nouns
ü       Indent new paragraphs.  Do not add blank line   between paragraphs.
ü       Show scene breaks with * * * * centered in the appropriate line.

 All cover letters must include:

ü       Name (and pseudonym if applicable)
ü       Birth date (if under 18)
ü       Mailing address
ü       Phone number
ü       E-mail address (required)
ü      Web/MySpace address (required for pubication)
ü      150 max. word bio
ü      200 max. synopsis of your story
